just a little update.

kinda boring without a photo, but i felt an update was necessary.

first, finding the time to blog is becoming more and more difficult.
maybe its because any free online time i get, i'm spending it on pinterest.
not sure how i'm going to keep this little ol blog moving along...

february was a crazy month for us. couldn't be happier to turn the page over to march.
chase and i had some pretty big decisions to make... one of which was accepting a new job.
chase officially starting working for fluid studios yesterday.
it's another local advertising/design agency and he'll be the business development/sales rep.
awesome opportunity.  we're both really excited!

i've been up to my elbows working for my dad's new company, inet solutions.
i've also been immersed in producing this year's sterling scholar awards ceremony for ksl.
throw in photo shoots, enrichment activities, and a two year old... busy is an understatement.
free time has been few and far between, but i thrive on busy (and those bonus paychecks aren't too bad either), so i'm not complaining (too much, i think).

how did i fail to mention that i tried potty training tate a few weeks ago?  yes, it's true.  we gave it a valiant two-week effort... made some great progress the first week, then totally regressed.  he's a smart little cookie.  too smart.  he was manipulative about the whole thing (like saying "potty" a million times to try to get out of taking a nap).... so, i tossed in the towel and will try again later.  pull-ups and a few potty trips per day is where we're at now.  like i said earlier, glad to have turned the page on the calendar.  potty training just about did me in.

anyways... tate is talking like crazy these days.  i really need to record his darling voice and words (and his slight lisp is quite frankly the cutest thing ever).  he's a crack up.  he's our little sponge and soaks up everything we're teaching him (aren't kids amazing that way?).   he loves his friends/cousins, church, riding his bike, playing "sharks" on our bed, helping mom with chores, popsicles, asking what's "that" all day, books, and just being an independent two year old.  he's a lot of work, but boy do we love that boy.

so there you have it.  one big boring update.
until next time...

Christmas Cards Come Down

I finally took all of my Christmas cards down.
I love looking at them throughout the holidays.
What a great reminder of how blessed we are to have so many wonderful friends and family members!
Thank you for brightening our lives.
Here's to a great year...

Three records

Three December records today for SLC:

*Driest ever (.03" of water)
*Least amount of snow ever (.1")
*Record hottest for Dec. 30th (57 degrees!)

Chase couldn't grab his clubs and cousin Taylor fast enough.  Kid in a candy store I tell ya.

First Cousin Sleepover

We were lucky to have Crew spend the night with us while Allie & Bryan celebrated their 5th anniversary.  He's such a good boy (and slept like an angel).  We played with the train, read books, splashed in the tub, and ran around in twinner jammies.  Tate's lucky to have a cousin so close in age.  They're destined to be lifelong buds!

102 mph winds!!

To say the last few days have been a whirlwind would be an understatement. Thursday morning around 2am the winds came in full-force (class II hurricane to be exact). By some miracle, Tate slept through most of the noise until 6am, but Chase and I were awake all night. We literally heard tree limbs slam against our house, shingles rip from our roof, and sirens blare throughout the night. We lost power at 6am when Tate woke up, screaming, so we pulled him in bed with us and he watched a movie on my phone. When we finally got up, Chase walked outside to access the damage. Our house had minimal damage... missing shingles and siding and a very slanted tree. Some of our neighbors, however, had extensive damage: fences completely torn apart, mature trees uprooted, trampolines transported, windows blown-out and more. We were without heat and power for 12 hours, so we retreated to Chase's parents for the day. The wind did not let up until 2pm. We jumped in the car and drove around to see the damage. Centerville was the hardest hit area. Our jaws were dropped as we witnessed the mess. We were exhausted and felt "out of body" all day. All of our "to do's" seemed trivial and we honed-in on what really needed to be done. Chase worked tirelessly with men in our neighborhood to begin the cleanup efforts. He hasn't stopped yet.

It's been amazing to see everyone come and work together after this storm. We've met new people and non-members. It's also given us a reality check as to what's most important (especially this time of year).

So grateful for a wonderful home and neighborhood, wonderful and safe family, wonderful friends, and for this gospel!

the weekend

So where were you on 11.11.11 at 11:11?  Madi and I were fighting the crowds at the grand opening of Crate & Barrel and H&M at Fashion Place.  It was a madhouse.  We shopped for awhile to kill time until H&M opened.  The line was SOOO long.  Eventually though, we got in and snagged a few things.  I'll definitely be back, but we'll let the hype die down.  Not sure I'm loving the idea of everyone in Utah having easy access to the brand (let alone everyone wearing the same clothes). But, for Tate's sake, I'm happy it's here.

We had a dinner date, just the three of us. Tate behaved like an angel (thanks to my phone).  When we got home we realized we never snagged our to-go boxes.  Bummer.  No leftovers.  Hate it when that happens.

My replacement washer and dryer were hooked up and we finally have clean clothes (thanks again Cody).

We scored and found more of our favorite popcorn at Walmart (Weaver Gold "Parmesan and Italian Herb"). We literally eat this every night and our local stores have pulled it from the shelves.  So we stocked up!

I made a disaster of my kitchen baking eight loaves of banana cream bread and a crockpot roast. But the reward of eating it outweighed the hour of dishes I had to do.

And... my Christmas decor is up!  Earliest I've ever put it up.  Feels fantastic.  Tate is loving the remote control train I inherited from my grandma too.

Ahh.  It was a good weekend.

New Boots Need Rain

Tate got some new rain boots and has been wearing them around the house.  Today was finally a good, rainy day to play outside.  I taught him to run through puddles and he was instantly hooked!  Seeing him discover new things is one of my greatest joys!

"Is this really ok mom?  I'm going to go for it then!"

Heaven.

march in utah

Technically, the first day of Spring was on Sunday.
However, this is what Spring looks like in Utah.

I suspect tomorrow will be sunny and 60 degrees...
Come on Eubank!  You're killing me!

mini update

So much to blog about... so little time.  I had a lovely weekend!

I was inspired by the many talented women in our state.  Found lots of cute things at Piper & Chloe and Bijou Market (especially since I won a $50 gift card and custom baby announcement from Green Lily Designs!)  I've decided I really need to learn to sew.

Had two photo shoots.

Celebrated my sis-in-laws birthday at Texas Roadhouse.

Enjoyed family time at the Walkers.

And I must be "big" enough for strangers to feel comfortable enough asking me when I'm due.  Just passed a coworker who said, "Wow Katie, you're poppin' like a break dancer!"  Ha ha.  Made my day, I think.

Halloween, photo shoots, and possibly a photo or two of my growing belly coming soon...

Grateful

Today I am extremely grateful for the wonderful man in my life. Amidst my crazy schedule, exhaustion and complaints, Chase is always looking out for me and helping any way he can. I got home around 10:00 last night and he had made dinner, cleaned the entire house, and was finishing laundry! I have completely slacked off and was getting overwhelmed just thinking about tackling the house this weekend. How did I get so lucky? I married the most thoughtful, and tidy I might add, guy. Thank you Chase for being the rock I need in this rocky road we call life!

Dear Spring-

Where are you? How I long for you to come back to me. How I long for sunny mornings, flowers, light cardigans in replace of heavy coats, bright colors, sunglasses, sandals, white linen pants, sunny photographs, running and biking outside, picnics, and sunsets at 8:00 instead of 5:00. Oh how I want to change my blog header.

Please come back to me soon!

Your Friend,
Katie
