Halloweenie

Meet the hobo obos:

Isn't Tatum the cutest homeless "guy" you've ever seen?

Chase stayed back at the house to hand-out candy while I took Tatum to a few neighbors.  This is how Trick-or-Treating went down:

Tate pushes his grocery cart to the neighbors house.  He takes an aluminum can out from the cart.
Me: "Ok bud, go knock on the door and get some candy."
Tate walks up the stairs, sees the dog on the other side of the door and forgets about the candy.  We pet the dog, I pry him away from the dog and we move on to the next house.

Tate stops by his girlfriend Ellie's house.  After 10 minutes of interacting, going inside and playing the piano, I finally get him to leave her house and move on.

Me: "Ok Tatum, let's go to this house.  Go get a treat."
Tate runs away.  He's spotted a slide.  He goes down the slide, runs around in the yard, and finally comes back to me.  We skip the house.  On to the next...

I carry Tate up to the door.  He knocks, holds out his can and collects the goods and in his sweet little voice says "thank you" (ank ooh).  He empties the goodies into his cart and we press forward.  Oh wait, he's spotted some rocks in the neighbors flower beds...

After collecting rocks, putting them in the cart, then putting them back in the dirt, we move on to the next house...

I'll spare you all the details... needless to say, Tatum was easily distracted.  Visiting five houses took over an hour!! I was exhausted by 6:00. Thankfully we had better luck going around with cousins Dre and Jersey and the whole Oborn clan.  Tate didn't understand what "just take one" meant, so I'd have to chime in and say, "He's just hungry... doesn't know when his next meal will be. Ha!"  The neighbors thought he was hilarious.  By time we trick-or-treated, visited with family, we were all spent!  We had fun nonetheless, and Tate came home with quite the stash.

Pumpkin-Shaped Cake

My Halloween has been fantastic, thanks to Pinterest.  From our costumes (pics coming soon) to this cake, I'm loving all the great ideas I'm coming across.

It was soooo easy and so fun to do.  The cake was half chocolate, and half carrot.  I leveled the bottoms of each cake so they fit together perfectly.  I used cream cheese frosting.  The stem was shaped with leftover cake and frosting (with a skewer to hold it in place).  A few chocolate sprinkles, and there you have it!

See the full instructions {here}:

We're heading into a sugar coma!  Happy Halloween!!

Halloween Dinner

My family LOVES Halloween.  My brother Ryan has a pumpkin carving addiction.  Matt goes all-out on decor.  And my sis and I love dressing up.  We owe all this craziness to my mom!  She got us all together for taco soup, scones, homemade root beer and {this pumpkin-shaped cake} I made.  Oh, and we carved pumpkins too.  Such a fun night.

We missed you Ryan. Rachelle. McKenzie. Brooklyn.
Thanks mom and dad for hosting and letting us destroy your house.

Black Island Farms

My sister and I met up with my friend Michelle at the Black Island Farms Harvest Festival (thanks again Michelle). We watched pig races, played on the slides and swings, took a ride on the train, and went on a hayride to pick our pumpkins from the patch. So fun. Love this time of year!

Crew is his handmade Peter Pan costume and Michelle with her kiddos

Tate's smile melts my heart.  He loves trains.

punkin

Sara and I took our lil' punkins to the Black Island Farms harvest festival a few weeks ago (thanks Michelle for the hook-ups). It was a fun afternoon of pig races, slides, tractor hay rides, and a pumpkin patch... not to mention the best kettle corn I've ever eaten!

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to snag a few pics of Tate in his sock monkey costume... Sure love my lil' punkin monkey boy.

Have a Happy Halloween Weekend!

Oh and, me and Tate will be showing off our costumes on Studio 5 today at 11 a.m. Tune-in to KSL!

It was a fun girls night out with my mom, aunt and her friend.
Gev's Ghost busters addition was great!
