Marsh Lake

We just got back from Tate's first ever camping trip (and my first time camping with the Oborn fam).  We went to Marsh Lake in the Uintahs.  It was gorgeous.  We hiked, had a scavenger hunt for treasure (rolos), went paddle-boarding and canoeing, ate lots of food, fished, played referee between all six grandkids, laughed, and simply enjoyed being together in the great outdoors.    Here's our trip all wrapped up in a mother-load of photos...

A tree beetle has killed-off thousands of trees in the area.  It's so sad (we really missed the shade/privacy of trees in our campground)

Hunting for treasure...

And then came the storm...
Swimsuits in the morning, winter coats in the afternoon.  Nobody could have predicted a hailstorm this intense (it lasted over two hours...and mr. slept through it all.  A miracle i tell ya. Absolute miracle)...

Carload of kiddos (trying to stay sane and warm during the storm)

Eventually, everyone jumped in their cars and we drove around nearby campsites (Stateline, Bridger, China Meadows) to pass the time...

... once the storm calmed down and it made for some eery, yet spectacular shots!

Thankfully the clouds broke and we were able to have an enjoyable evening, complete with a dutch oven dinner, marshmallow roasting, games, and simple togetherness.

friday night was rough.  tate literally was up all night asking, "get me outta here!"  we may have squeezed-in two hours of sleep,  but hey we were going to make the best of our last day at camp regardless...

fishing in China Meadows...

our "wet ones" bath for tate before the drive home

lots of fun, but i'm always grateful for a hot shower and comfy bed!
