Although the beaches of Flamingo were beautiful, we wanted some bigger waves and more shopping options. So we took a 20 minute ride to Tamarindo, a little surfer town south of Flamingo. We spent the day swimming, surfing and boogie boarding. We took a break and ate Costa Rican dishes (Cosados) and pina coladas at a cafe. Sara and I meandered through the local markets and gift shops in search of authentic crafts and jewelry. On our way home, we stopped at a local favorite for dinner, The Happy Snapper. Not a bad way to kick of the new year, eh?
