NYC: getting there

i was trying to busy myself the morning of my departure.
i didn't want to say goodbye yet.
my dad knocked at the door and it was time to go.
i kissed chase, then tate (many times), as tears streamed down my cheeks.
i quickly brushed them away and waved goodbye.
i reminded myself i needed this trip.  i deserved this trip.
i grabbed my carry-on (yes, i got everything into a carry-on) and i was on my way!

slc to dallas... sat next to a chain smoker.
nothing like high altitudes, cabin pressure, and second hand smoke to kick-off a trip.
but i was excited nonetheless.  it was my inaugural trip to the city.

i intentionally booked a layover in dallas so me and little sis could see each other.
she picked me up, we grabbed some lunch, and then talked at her house.
i saw their nursery, and she gave me an early birthday present.
a ped egg (which my feet are grateful for) and a year subscription to oprah!
it was a short visit, but well worth it.

then i was on my way to the big apple.
this time i sat next to a jehovah's witness.
she was delightful, bubbly, and full of charm.

i finally made it to rainy and humid nyc.
marci, dan and i talked over grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup in their darling apartment.
it was nice to have marci all to myself for the weekend...
i was excited for what the weekend entailed.
